Coffee with roots — and a reason.
A Cup of History was born from a simple idea: that the cup in your hand carries centuries of culture, labor, and craft. Founder Ray Boyd is preparing to open the shop's doors to honor that journey — and to give New Haven a space that feels like home.
Ray served 30 years in prison. Since coming home, he has transformed his life and dedicated himself to helping others do the same. He launched the Next Level Empowerment Program to support returning citizens and has become a champion of re-entry, second chances, and community rebuilding.
We source beans from Black and family-owned farms across the diaspora, roast them in small batches, and pour them with care. Every cup is a chapter. Every regular, a new page.
